Last February 25, Adrenaline Solutions two new sports and coaching consultants, AJ Koikoi and Denise Kamyuka, dropped by to greet the rest of the team in the monthly AS Friday gathering.
A Liberian-American, A.J. is an Instructional Design Expert at The United Nations Institute for Training and Research based in Hiroshima City, Japan. He played American football as a student and it is through this experience that he appreciated how sports put everyone on an equal playing field. In 2017, he started Danketsu, a sport-plus development program in the rural Chugoku Region of Japan. It’s mission is to provide a medium for cultural exchange through sports with the goal of growing global citizens. A.J. coaches athletes while helping them meet other cultures. He gave the example of Kana Okada, a determined sprinter who plans to go to America to study and run track.
Denise Kamyuka is from Botswana and a person who found joy in basketball in high school and went on to join the National Team and play for eight years. Initially, she pursued a career in marketing but rediscovered her love for sports and pursued higher education in North America. There she found another passion in championing diversity, equality, and inclusion through her education in Western University in London, Ontario, Canada
