Rethinking Leadership in an Era of Climate Change

Jul 23, 2022

In a statement delivered by the United Nations early this year, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warned that climate change has entered an irreversible phase.

According to UN data, however, there is still a small window of time within which we can reverse a great deal of potential damage. The caveat is that we must unite globally, and act swiftly, to grasp this time-critical opportunity. Sadly, many powerful nations continue to fail to respond to this most urgent threat.

With over 40% of the world’s population highly vulnerable to climate change, the need to act now is clear. Between 2010 and 2020, fifteen times more people died from natural weather-related events (e.g., droughts) than at any other time in history. Crops, plant, and animal species continue to be decimated. Numerous coastal regions are predicted to be completely submerged and lost in coming years due to rising tides. 2022 is already playing host to history-breaking records in temperature.

Authors of book on climate change: Rethinking Leadership for a Green World

Dr. Elesa Zehndorfer, Adrenaline Solutions Vice President of Writing & Curriculum Services, is one of the authors featured in this timely publication. Her chapter, entitled ‘The Weaponization of Climate Change: Environmental Leadership in the Age of Trump’ takes a highly applied look at the complexities of trying to execute a pro-environmental agenda under the leadership of an actively anti-environment Administration.

The book has received positive reviews since its release. Here’s a sample review:

“I very much welcome this new book, which provides guidance on the values and systemic leadership required to enable us to manage during the Anthropocene and transition to a green economy. While fully recognizing the difficulties that will be encountered, the authors offer both useful theoretical insights and examples of good practice.” – Emeritus Professor Michael C. Jackson, OBE
